First off you need to know that I am frugal. Like really frugal. Like so frugal I have a hard time spending money. You are all thinking your husband must think he is so lucky. Actually it’s quite the opposite, he knows I won’t buy things for myself, unless they are on clearance and it actually frustrates him. I will buy for everyone else in the family, but not myself. Now this has come from years of needing to be this way. Things have always been tight for us, although we have never gone without. And through the years we have chosen what we really want to spend money on and what we can do without.
I know it has to be harder going from being able to spend to having to cut back. But it doesn’t mean it can’t be done. You have all seen the tricks that are out there. Freeze your credit card so you don’t do compulsive spending or better yet switch over to debit so when the money is gone, it’s gone at which point you have to stop spending. Trust me overdraft fees are expensive and they are huge set backs.
So what I am going to try and establish is what are things we like to spend money and what are things that we can cut back. The list is endless….clothing, food, household items to decorate with, vacations, entertainment and on the list goes. I think tomorrow we will start with food. I like to eat and I will show you some tricks and some, if I may, treats!

With the economy the way it is, it seems like everyone is cutting back and trying hard not to spend money aimlessly on things. I think this is great. This is something that many people have needed to do for years now. But with so many blogs out there filled with all types of money saving tips, which I too will share, there comes a point where you feel guilty buying something that you truly want or enjoy, but you need to know, it's ok to splurge every now and then.
