I was having coffee with a friend this week and we were doing our blogging thing, looking pretty cool I might add, and the subject of my blog came up. She had also seen a lot of the bargain blogs that I have seen, and she is also doing well at couponing.
As we talked about all that you can save and all that we had gotten we both had shared stories of how we hate when we see people pay full price. How you just want to run up to them and say ‘You don’t have to pay full price for that, or wait and get that for FREE’, but alas we have knowledge that they don’t have, and it seems out of their realm.
I do love coupons and I like to share stories of all that I find or amazing deals out there because I don’t want anyone to miss out. You can even check out my Coupon Giveaway if you have babies or pets. I hate letting coupons go to waste.
Today I was in Walmart, please don’t tell my dad. Since we don’t have one close I decided to wander through with my coupons in hand and look at the prices and see if I could find any steals.
I was in the razor aisle just looking for a deal. A young gal comes up and starts digging through razors. I have a ton of coupons for those and more than a 6 month supply at home. As she walked away I asked her what kind she was getting. I told her I had a $4 off coupon. I showed her how to look and make sure it was the right one. She was so thankful, and she told me that was a huge help.
I continued on my way, coupons out the whole time, just looking. I came upon an elderly lady that saw me and said “you were prepared, I forgot my coupons.” So you guessed it, I looked in her basket, fumbled through my coupons and handed her any that I could. She thanked me many times and said, “that really does help me”.
I finally had all my coupons in hand, my cart barely full, deals that I was excited about and made my way to a register.
Now let me pause to give you a quick overview of how I organize coupons. I file by weekly insert and only pull out the ones I know for sure I will use, put those in my small holder and save the rest for a killer deal.
I get up in line and this lady in front of me has Starkist Tuna packs. I hate Tuna, but I know for some reason I have those in my coupon book. So again I quickly pull them out and tell the cashier I have coupons for those. One was $1 off the other B1G1. The lady looked at me and said I had a $30 budget today, but I had gone over. After my 2 measly coupons her total was $31.99. She looked at me and said “that was amazing, I can’t believe that just happened, thank you, thank you so much” You could almost tell she wanted to say ‘that was a God thing’ but she didn’t, but I knew it was.
Ok gals, we all know you watch for the killer sale, add that to Catalina deal and get stuff for FREE or next to nothing, but sometimes just having someone save $4 means the world to them. I do wish they fully understood how you could save so much more, but hopefully I at least taught them the value of a coupon.
I might not get all those razors for FREE now because I used one of my coupons, but that’s ok, it made someone’s day.
Money 4 This – saving so much that you can give, even in small ways, that’s why I coupon!!

With the economy the way it is, it seems like everyone is cutting back and trying hard not to spend money aimlessly on things. I think this is great. This is something that many people have needed to do for years now. But with so many blogs out there filled with all types of money saving tips, which I too will share, there comes a point where you feel guilty buying something that you truly want or enjoy, but you need to know, it's ok to splurge every now and then.

How generous of you. I am sure they thought of you as an angel and you were just sharing what you had!
That is a great reminder of how we can help others! God is amazing how He put you in line at that moment behind a woman in need! Great post!
Amen! I call those moments “coupon kharma”.
I enjoyed reading this post, it was nice and thoughtful and it made ME feel good, thanks. I often leave extra coupons for those who come along behind me. I bought 6 boxes of BC potatoes at QFC today, as if I needed anymore and I had 1.40 off in coupons x 2 times. QFC had a cat for $3 bucks if you buy 3 (this is just crazy) and they were on sale for $1 each, I had several extra coupons and left them there and these potatoes will be donated as we prefer fresh mashed taters, we will use the boxed ones for camping.
Had fun catching up with you… and sharing our stories of wanting to tell everyone in the grocery store that they can SAVE!!! Kills me to see people buying loads of cereal at full price… I LOVE that you shared what you had – so like you! Thanks for encouraging me to do the same…
You are the Coupon Fairy!!! What nice and thoughtful things you did for others. Most people wouldn’t. Thank you SO much for doing FGF!!!
Have a wonderful weekend.
I think when you give so freely like you did that you will always have more than enough razor coupons. It seems to work that way. XD
