Some people “complain” about being busy, when really they are in the height of their glory. The talk about how awful it is, but they don’t try and make things less stressful, instead they add more things to their kids’ schedule and thus their own. You know who you are…
Me on the other hand, if I complain about being busy, it’ s because I am and I usually don’t want to be.
This weekend was shaping up to a pleasantly busy weekend…then it got crazy.
Pleasantly busy is fine, because in my mind it also included taking time to plant my tomatoes in the garden and finish the plantings in the front yard.
My pleasantly busy weekend also involved me sitting in the back yard drinking an iced latte with my feet up.
I have had to let go of my “Happy Place” weekend.
We have a track meet an hour away today, then it starts up again tomorrow morning. I thought I would have a relaxing afternoon on Saturday, but my daughter informed me that the Formal after party was going to be at our house. That was fine, I could figure out how to get snacks for the kids and stuff.
Then I volunteered to help finish setting up for Formal. That’s when my daughter informed me that all the girls were coming here to get ready and their family members were coming too so they could see them off. I should hopefully be back in time for that event. I guess that means that I have to get even more snacks now.
Then my daughter tells me she needs me to drive her to her photo shoot on Saturday evening because she doesn’t know how to get there. Since this is a paying job do I get to charge her for chauffeuring?
Truth is, this will be a crazy busy weekend, with little down time. Normally I would be up in arms, but I am not. I am starting to get the teary eyed look in my face when I realize my daughter only has 2 more years left at home.
She wants to be here? Great, we can make it work, and you know me, I will pull it off on a budget as well.
This weekend is a Finer Thing in my life, because it’s about how much she is growing up and all the new things she is starting to do, which at the same time will end so quickly. I am a mom, and as moms we pull off lots of crazy weekends. Why? Because we wouldn’t have it any other way. See you on the other side.

With the economy the way it is, it seems like everyone is cutting back and trying hard not to spend money aimlessly on things. I think this is great. This is something that many people have needed to do for years now. But with so many blogs out there filled with all types of money saving tips, which I too will share, there comes a point where you feel guilty buying something that you truly want or enjoy, but you need to know, it's ok to splurge every now and then.

It seems like as we get older things just get so much busier and time is less. We have to really think about calming down a bit so we can have less stress. I just found your blog! Come visit me at Mama’s Little Chick.
