13 Steps on How To Get Your House Ready To Sell

Some of you have sold houses and know all the tricks. Others need to know how to get your house ready to sell. If you need some guidance, I am here to help.

Spring is a big time of year to sell houses. People are ready to start looking, because they know they can move closer to summer therefore not interrupting their kids’ education.

So not only will you be competing with others selling their houses, but you will also be competing with Foreclosures.

Don’t worry, you can make your house stand out with some of these easy tricks.

  1. Pack half of your stuff away. I know it sounds crazy, but it will give the house a cozier feel. It will make all the closets seem bigger and more organized, plus you will have less stuff to keep clean.
  2. Stage your house. The best way to do this is to watch every show on HGTV that has to do with staging your house. I watched a ton of shows, my husband made fun of me, but we sold our house in 3 weeks(and that was after the big boom), so who’s was laughing then.
  3. Give it a good clean, including the carpets. Either hire it done or get the family to pitch it. Clean it from ceiling to floors. We tend to not see dirt when we live with it for awhile.
  4. Burn a candle that smells like baked cookies. Yes they have those.
  5. Clean windows and open all curtains and blinds to make it look light and bright.
  6. Touch up paint. There might be more marks than you think, take a look around.
  7. Organize your garage to make it look as big as possible.
  8. Add flowers on islands, tables, end tables. It just looks homey.
  9. Clean up your yard. It will be the first thing they see when they drive in. Get it ready.
  10. Does the outside of the house need painted? Is it worth $3,000 to try and sell your $300,000 home. It may or may not. But at least consider it.
  11. Plant flowers outside. Just small, cheap plants. Just enough for color. If it makes you smile, it will make potential home buyers smile too.
  12. Make sure you hit open houses in your town or neighborhood so you know exactly who you are competing with and make sure you “one up” them on everything.
  13. List lots of special features of your house. Go overboard because you want potential buyers to at least come out to check out these features and all the work you have done.

Getting your house ready to sell is a MONEY4THIS, although it can be done inexpensively. Out of all the things listed planting plants outside, bringing flowers indoors, and buying a few things to stage your home are all the expenses you could possibly have. It’s up to you if you want to spend more on house cleaning and painting.

Just know, if you put some money into it, you will profit by a quicker sale. Good luck, now get out there and sell your house in just 3 steps.
